Azan Awais showcased a brilliant century, complemented by fifties from Shahzaib Khan and Saad Baig, steering Pakistan to an impressive eight-wicket victory over India in the fifth match of the U19 Asia Cup held in Dubai on Sunday.

With this win, Pakistan maintains its lead on the Group A points table, securing two consecutive victories, while India faced its first defeat in the tournament.

Off-spinner Murugan Abishek was the lone wicket-taker for India, claiming 2/55, but the Pakistan batters demonstrated ease in chasing down the 260-run target despite the early loss of opener Shamyl Husain.

Shahzaib (63) and Azan formed a formidable 110-run partnership for the second wicket in 140 balls, setting the foundation for the successful chase. The unbeaten partnership between captain Saad (68) and the centurion sealed the victory for Pakistan.

In the earlier innings, after being put into bat, India lost opener Arshin Kulkarni early, scoring a run-a-ball 24. Despite the efforts of Adarsh Singh (62) and Uday Saharan (60), who added 93 runs for the third wicket, India struggled to recover after losing Singh. Despite a 48-run stand between Uday and Sachin Dhas for the sixth wicket, India kept losing wickets at regular intervals.

Pakistan’s Mohammad Zeeshan played a pivotal role, taking four wickets, helping restrict India to 259/9.
