RCB captain Faf du Plessis shared insights into the team’s strategy at the IPL 2024 Auction, emphasizing the goal to enhance performances on their home ground. The franchise aimed to fortify the squad for the upcoming season, executing six bids in a strategic manner during the auction in Dubai.

“After the last season, we felt like we needed to improve at home. One of the things that we did really well was to succeed away from Chinnaswamy,” Du Plessis stated. The focus was on planning and acquiring players who could thrive at home, with a meticulous process unfolding over the last two months.

Boasting a formidable top-order lineup with players like Du Plessis, Virat Kohli, Glenn Maxwell, and Rajat Patidar, RCB added Australia all-rounder Cameron Green through a trade with Mumbai Indians. Strengthening the bowling department, they secured West Indian pacer Alzarri Joseph (Rs. 11.5 crore), New Zealand fast bowler Lockie Ferguson (Rs. 2 crore), and England’s Tom Curran (Rs. 1.5 crore).

RCB further bolstered their squad with Indian left-arm pacer Yash Dayal (Rs. 5 crore), spin all-rounder Swapnil Singh (Rs. 20 lakh), and wicketkeeper Saurav Chauhan (Rs. 20 lakh), completing a 25-member lineup.

Du Plessis emphasized the importance of thorough homework and discussions about the franchise’s future. RCB head coach Andy Flower expressed satisfaction with the acquisitions, noting a robust top four with Virat Kohli, Faf du Plessis, Rajat Patidar, and Glenn Maxwell, along with the power addition of Cameron Green in the top five.
