“We are not forcing him…” Indian Cricket Team Coach Rahul Dravid’s Blunt Message to Ishan Kishan

Indian cricket team’s head coach, Rahul Dravid, delivered a direct message to Ishan Kishan during a press conference addressing concerns over the player’s extended absence from both international and domestic cricket. Dravid’s remarks underscored the significance of commitment and readiness for players aspiring to compete at the highest level.

Addressing queries about Kishan’s prolonged break, Dravid emphasized that the decision to stage a comeback rests solely with the player himself. However, Dravid stressed the necessity for Kishan to ensure he is fully prepared to deliver top-tier performances upon his return.

“There is a way back for anyone and everyone. I don’t want to go on laboring about the Ishan Kishan point. Have tried to explain this as best as I can, the point was he had requested a break, and we were happy to give him the break,” said Dravid in the media interaction.

Kishan, who has been sidelined from action for an extended period, faces the challenge of regaining both form and fitness before making a comeback to the Indian squad. Dravid’s candid statement has ignited discussions among cricket enthusiasts, with some questioning the reasons behind Kishan’s absence while others commend Dravid’s straightforward approach.

“Whenever he is ready, I didn’t say he has to play domestic cricket, I said whenever he is ready, he needs to play some cricket and come back. The choice is his. We are not forcing him to do anything,” Dravid didn’t seem too amused with the queries and also made it team management’s stance clear on the issue.

“We are in touch with him, it is not that we have not been in touch. He has not yet started playing right so at the moment it is not something we can consider. Because you know he maybe he is not ready. He decides when he wants to be ready. We have got options with Rishabh injured and stuff. I am sure the selectors will weigh all options,” he said.
