JJ Spaun Claws His Way To Victory At US Open 2025

The 2025 US Open at Oakmont turned out to be a highly dramatic event that ended with a stunning finish, as JJ Spaun pulled off the biggest win of his career. The tournament was played under tough and rainy conditions, which kept fans on the edge of their seats until the very last putt. JJ Spaun, the 34-year-old from Los Angeles, started the final round just one shot behind the leader, but things took a wrong turn. He bogeyed five of his first six holes, and by the turn, his scorecard read 40. Most would have counted him out at that point. But after a weather delay, Spaun found new energy as he dug deep and started to climb his way back into contention.

The turning point came on the 17th hole, where  Spaun hit one of the best shots of the day, giving himself a chance for eagle. He missed the eagle putt but made a birdie, taking a one-shot lead into the final hole. On the 18th green, he needed just a two-putt to win, but he rolled in a dramatic 64-foot birdie putt, clinching his first major championship and finishing the US Open 2025 at one under par, the only player to break par for the week.

Robert MacIntyre, the Scottish left-hander, finished runner-up at one over par. He played a steady final round and set the clubhouse lead, but Spaun’s late heroics edged him out. Viktor Hovland, from Norway, took third place, adding another strong finish in a major to his record.

Tournament favorite Scottie Scheffler finished in a tie for seventh, five shots behind Spaun, continuing his streak of top-10 finishes at majors. The tough Oakmont course and heavy rain made life difficult for everyone, and several big names struggled to keep up with the changing conditions.
