Arsenal has initiated an internal probe after UFC star Conor McGregor was seen interacting with several players following last week’s Champions League match against Paris Saint-Germain, according to reports.

Clips doing rounds on social media show McGregor playing around with Arsenal stars Declan Rice and Bukayo Saka. In some footage, McGregor is seen play-fighting with England international Saka, who looks to laugh it off despite appearing uncomfortable with the antics of the MMA star.

According to Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta, Saka might have suffered harm as a result of McGregor actions on him, which they cannot risk as captain Martin Odegaard is already out. An injury to their star player like Saka, who is in impeccable form currently, would be the last thing Arteta would want. 

According to reports, McGregor had entered the playing field without permission and was asked to return inside once security chiefs became aware.

McGregor attended the 2-0 victory over PSG after reportedly securing VIP tickets through a third-party provider at the last minute. The UFC star was hosted by 1 Access – a hospitality company that owns a box at the Emirates Stadium that often hosts celebrities. 

The Gunners management are said to be looking into the matter seriously, even being probed to launch an internal investigation. 

One of the top-notch teams of the Premier League, Arsenal is now said to be working on its protocol to prevent a recurrence of such incidents. The Gunners are considering a policy that would allow players to socialize with business visitors following games.

Meanwhile, the club is also trying to disassociate themselves from McGregor who was previously convicted of assault and has been involved in several controversies. The 36-year-old, also known as “Notorious” was found guilty of assault in 2019 among other offences.  

After winning over Southampton 3-1 on Saturday to climb to the third place in the Premier League, Arsenal will try and make sure to prevent another incident of such kind when they host Shakhtar Donetsk on October 22.
