Shooting was considered to be one of the nine major events held at the 1896 Olympic Games in Athens. Apart from the </span><span style="font-weight: 400">St Louis Olympics in 1904 and the Amsterdam Olympics in 1928, the sport of shooting has remained as a cornerstone of the Olympic Games. Shooting has undergone a major glorious transition over the decades, earlier the Olympic Games featured only a total of five shooting events where the modern-day Olympic Games feature around fifteen shooting events, owing to the sport’s growing popularity and prominence on a global scale. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">Ahead of the Paris Olympics 2024, a total of 340 athletes hailing from 82 different countries are all geared up to compete across different shooting competitions that will take place from 27th July 2024 and will conclude on 5 August 2024 at the prestigious Chateauroux Shooting Centre.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">In this article we will take a look at the </span><span style="font-weight: 400">rules and defending champions of shooting competitions at the Paris Olympics 2024. </span></p>

<p><b>Shooting Rules at the Paris Olympics 2024</b></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">The Paris Olympics 2024 will feature a total of three major shooting disciplines including Pistol, Rifle and Shotgun. Each of the disciplines will be governed by a specific set of rules at the Paris Olympics 2024. </span></p>
<p><b>Pistol Shooting Rules at the Paris Olympics 2024</b></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">As per the rules of pistol shooting at the Paris Olympics 2024 it will be mandatory for the athletes to use only one hand while shooting. The three major sub-categories for pistol shooting at the Paris Olympics 2024 will include 10m Air Pistol, 25m Rapid Fire Pistol and 25m Pistol. </span></p>

<p><b>10m Air Pistol Shooting Rules </b></p>
<ul>
<li style="font-weight: 400"><span style="font-weight: 400">Individual shooters would have a total of 75 minutes to fire a total of 60 shots </span></li>
<li style="font-weight: 400"><span style="font-weight: 400">Only a total of top eight shooters will have the chance of advancing to the medal rounds. </span></li>
<li style="font-weight: 400"><span style="font-weight: 400">In mixed team 10m air pistol shooting events, each team member will have a chance to fire only 40 shots.</span></li>
<li style="font-weight: 400"><span style="font-weight: 400">Only a total of the top five teams will advance to the medal rounds. </span></li>
</ul>
<p><b>25m Rapid Fire Pistol Shooting Rules</b></p>
<ul>
<li style="font-weight: 400"><span style="font-weight: 400">The shooters will fire a total of five successive shots from their pistols at the stated  interval of 4,6 and 8 seconds. </span></li>
<li style="font-weight: 400"><span style="font-weight: 400">The qualification round will consist of two rounds with a total of 30 rounds each. </span></li>
<li style="font-weight: 400"><span style="font-weight: 400">Only a total of eight shooters will advance from the qualification round to the medals round. </span></li>
</ul>
<p><b>25m Pistol Shooting Rules </b></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">As per the rules of Paris Olympics 2024, “25m Pistol” would be considered as a women’s equivalent to shooting event and would be governed as per the above mentioned Olympic rules for 25m rapid fire pistol events. </span></p>
<p><b>Rifle Shooting Rules at the Paris Olympics 2024</b></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">The two major sub-categories for rifle shooting at the Paris Olympics 2024 will include 10m Air Rifle and 50m Rifle 3 Positions. </span></p>
<p><b>50m Rifle 3 Positions Shooting Rules </b></p>
<ul>
<li style="font-weight: 400"><span style="font-weight: 400">The total time limit of the 50m rifle 3 positions event will be 2 hrs and 45 minutes. </span></li>
<li style="font-weight: 400"><span style="font-weight: 400">In 50m rifle 3 positions shooting at the Paris Olympics 2024, shooters will be allowed to fire shots in three major positions including prone, standing and kneeling. </span></li>
<li style="font-weight: 400"><span style="font-weight: 400">Each shooter will be required to fire 40 shots from each position.</span></li>
<li style="font-weight: 400"><span style="font-weight: 400">Only a total of top eight shooters will advance to the medals round. </span></li>
</ul>
<p><b>10m Air Rifle Shooting Rules </b></p>
<ul>
<li style="font-weight: 400"><span style="font-weight: 400">The total time limit of the 10m Air Rifle shooting events will be 75 minutes only. </span></li>
<li style="font-weight: 400"><span style="font-weight: 400">Shooters would be required to fire a total of 60 shots.</span></li>
<li style="font-weight: 400"><span style="font-weight: 400">Only a total of top eight shooters will advance to the medals round. </span></li>

<p><b>Shotgun</b> <b>Shooting Rules at the Paris Olympics 2024</b></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">The two major sub-categories for shotgun shooting at the Paris Olympics 2024 will include trap and skeet. </span></p>
<p><b>Trap Shooting Rules </b></p>
<ul>
<li style="font-weight: 400"><span style="font-weight: 400">Shooters will be required to attack clays that will come from a total of five different directions.</span></li>
<li style="font-weight: 400"><span style="font-weight: 400">Each shooter will be required to fire a total of 75 shots which will be divided in three rounds of 25 shots each.</span></li>
<li style="font-weight: 400"><span style="font-weight: 400">Only a total of six teams will advance to the medal round. </span></li>
</ul>
<p><b>Skeet Shooting Rules </b></p>
<ul>
<li style="font-weight: 400"><span style="font-weight: 400">Shooters will be required to attack clays that will come from a total of eight different directions.</span></li>
<li style="font-weight: 400"><span style="font-weight: 400">A total of five rounds of skeet shooting will be held at the Paris Olympics 2024 over a course of three days.</span></li>
<li style="font-weight: 400"><span style="font-weight: 400">Shooters will be required to take at least 25 shots each.</span></li>
<li style="font-weight: 400"><span style="font-weight: 400">Only a total of six shooters will advance to the medal round. </span></li>
