The Paris Olympics 2024 is set to kick-start on July 26. Qualified athletes from all corners of the world will compete in the marquee event for the ultimate sports glory.

In order to ensure a comfortable stay for the participating athletes, the Olympic Villages has been laced with several facilities. From dietary food to medical centres, recreational plazas to training centres, the convenience of the athletes have been prioritized. However, there is a set of house rules that athletes must follow during their stay in Olympic Village.

Here are some of the rules that athletes must adhere to in the Olympic Village at Paris Olympics 2024:

1.Olympic athletes must reside with their own country

Athletes can reside with only fellow-countrymen. They are not allowed to share their room with anyone from another country.

2.Friends, family not allowed in Olympic Village

Entry of friends and family of athletes inside the Olympic Village are prohibited. However, there is one exception to the rule. Athletes who are nursing mothers can bring their infants to the nursery in the Village.

3.Security allowed only at specific times

High-profile athletes often move around with their personal security. Therefore, personal security of athletes is allowed to enter the Olympic Village only during certain timings.

4.Number of roommates

The number of people residing in a room depends on the size of the team. Sporting teams can allot the rooms  and decide  who would be staying together in a room.

5.Minor not allowed to stay with adult

Athletes below 18 years of age are not allowed to share a room with someone who is above 18.

6.Protest, propaganda not allowed

Protests and demonstrations on political or religious racial propaganda are banned. Athletes are not allowed to push their agenda on the field of play, in the Olympic Village, during Olympic medal ceremonies and other official Ceremonies.

7.Alcohol banned in Olympic Village

Athletes are not allowed to drink and party inside the Village. If they crave drinking, they can do so in the city of Paris.  

8. Pets are not allowed

 Athletes will not be allowed to bring in their pets inside the village. The rule came into force owing to French governmental regulations around certification of therapy dogs.
