The United Cup is an international outdoor hard court mixed-gender team tennis tournament held jointly  by the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) and the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA).

First staged in 2023, the United Cup is an 18-team, mixed-team competition across two cities: Sydney (Sydney Olympic Park Tennis Centre) and Perth (RAC Arena). It replaced the ATP Cup in the calendar and features the top players from the ATP and WTA.

United Cup 2025: Prize money breakdown

A minimum of US$11,170,000 (approx. AU$17,991,317) in prize money has been allotted to the United Cup 2025 which is evenly rewarded between WTA and ATP players.  The total prize money is split into three components: participation fee, per team wins and prize money

United Cup 2025: Rankings points

Both WTA and ATP players will be eligible for rankings points.

The amount of points earned from a win will be determined by an opponent’s current ranking.

Shanghai Masters returns on October 2 as the penultimate ATP Masters 1000 tournament of the 2024 season.

Several top tennis players who are taking part in Beijing’s China Open 2024 will continue their stay in the country to participate in Shanghai Masters 2024.  

The 12-day long tournament will take place at the Qi Zhong Tennis Center in the Minhang District, standing out as the only ATP Masters 1000 event on the calendar to be held outside of Europe. The final of Shanghai Masters 2024 will be on Sunday October 13.

Shanghai Masters 2024: Key Players

The top seven players in the world take up the top seeds in the draw. Shanghai Masters 2024 will be headlined by world number one Jannik Sinner, who is leading at the top of the ATP world rankings going into the final stretch of the season. He will be the tournament’s third seed. 

Carlos Alcaraz will enter Shanghai Masters as the world number two, after surpassing Alexander Zverev in ATP rankings. Alcaraz has been a staple at each and every major tennis tournament, including the Paris Olympics 2024, guiding Spain to the Davis Cup knockout stages followed by leading Team Europe to victory in the Laver Cup.

Paris 2024 gold medallist Novak Djokovic, who did not win a single major title this year, can close the gap to the top three with a win in Shanghai.

Defending champion Hubert Hurkacz has withdrawn from the tournament due to injury, the only top 10 player absent from the draw in an otherwise stacked lineup. There, the 13th edition of the Shanghai Masters will see a new champion.
