Ferrari, the Formula 1 powerhouse, officially announced on Monday the recruitment of former Mercedes member Jerome d’Ambrosio as their deputy team principal, alongside Loic Serra, who will join as the head of chassis performance engineering. Both are set to commence their roles with the team on October 1.

Hailing from Belgium and born in 1985, D’Ambrosio enjoyed a successful career as a racing driver until 2020. He secured a victory in GP2 and three wins in Formula E, in addition to participating in 20 F1 Grands Prix between 2011 and 2012 for Virgin Racing and Lotus.

D’Ambrosio’s role as deputy team principal was assigned by team manager Fred Vasseur, entrusting him with the supervision of the Ferrari Driver Academy. Notably, this academy includes rising talent Oliver Bearman, who recently made his debut at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix.

Meanwhile, Frenchman Loic Serra, who will report directly to Ferrari’s technical director Enrico Cardile, will assume responsibility for various aspects of chassis performance engineering at Maranello. This includes overseeing track engineering, aero development, aero operations, and vehicle performance.
