The throw of 87.58 m in the finals gave India its first gold medal in a track and field event at the Olympics. With this he also became the only second Indian after Abhinav Bindra (Shooting) to win an individual gold medal at the summer event.

2023 world championships
Chopra won gold medal in men’s javelin throw in the 2023 IAAF World Athletics Championships. He gave a best throw of 88.17 m to finish first on the podium.

Commonwealth Games 2018
Neeraj Chopra bagged gold in the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast. He had a best shot of 86.47 m to clinch the top post.
The then 20-year-old became the first Indian to win a gold medal in javelin throw at the Commonwealth Games.
Paavo Nurmi Games 2024
The reigning Olympic champion delivered a best throw of 85.97 m to win his first gold medal in the Paavo Nurmi Games in Turku, Finland. The gold is enough to give Chopra a major boost as he prepares for the Paris Olympic 2024 and eyes another coveted gold medal.

IAAF World U20 Championships 2016
Chopra’s first major international outing was the 2016 IAAF World U20 Championships in Bydgoszcz, Poland where he won gold. set a new World Junior record of 86.48 m, becoming the first Indian athlete to achieve a world record.
