PV Sindhu has been the face of Indian badminton. The ace shuttler from Hyderabad has enthralled her fans with exciting games. She has been one of the most successful sports persons from India and one of the most decorated ones.

Sindhu featured in the top 20 of the BWF World ranking in September 2012, at the age of 17.

PV Sindhu became the only Indian badminton player to reach two successive Olympic Games. She clinched a bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympics 2020. In the semi-final match she went down against Taiwan’s Tai Tzu-ying. However, she emerged victorious in the bronze medal match against He Bingjiao of China.

With the bronze medal win, Sindu became the only Indian to win two back-to-back Olympic medals. She might well become the first Indian to pull off a hat-trick of medals at the Olympics.

Commonwealth Games 2022

PV Sindhu won gold at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham. It was her maiden Commonwealth gold medal in the women’s single event. She defeated  Michelle Li of Canada in the final.

With this victory, Sidhu became only the second women’s singles player to win a full set of medals at the Commonwealth Games.
