Nikhat Zareen is an Indian boxer who is rapidly on the rise. A two-time world champion, Zareen is known for her aggression and unsparing attitude against the opponent.

At a young age Zareen was introduced to boxing by her father under whom she began her training. Later she was enrolled in the Sports Authority of Indian academy and in 2010 was declared the ‘golden best boxer’ at the Erode Nationals.

Nikhat Zareen set out for her boxing journey at junior levels and went on to win multiple medals. She bagged the sub-junior national title and followed it up with a gold medal at the Junior and Youth World Championships in 2011. She won another silver medal at the Youth World Championships in 2013

The pugilist soon began her transition into the senior circuit and achieved international glory at various occasions.

Zareen won her maiden worlds title in Istanbul, Turkey. She clinched the gold medal at the 2022 IBA Women’s World Boxing Championships in the 52 kg category. She defeated Thailand’s Jitpong Jutamas in the fly-weight final. With the win, Zareen became the fifth Indian women’s boxer to win a gold medal at the World Championships.

2022 Birmingham Commonwealth Games

Zareen bagged a gold medal for India in the Commonwealth Games 2022 in Birmingham after defeating Carly McNaul of Northern Ireland by 5-0 on in the 48–50 kg category (light flyweight category).

2023 New Delhi World Championships

The pugilist successfully defended her title. Nikhat won her second worlds title at 2023 IBA Women’s World Boxing Championships in New Delhi. She crushed Vietnam’s Nguyen Thi Tam by 5-0 unanimous decision in the 48-50 kg category.
